JACQUES KARTIER

FOUNDER, HEAD OF DEVELOPMENT

Jacques Leonard, known professionally as Jacques Kartier, is a Canadian promoter and businessman. He is the former executive producer and international business development consultant at Just for laughs / Juste pour rire and founder of JKA Entertainment. He also the founder of Jacques Kartier Foundation and co-founded Dynastie Foundation

Jacques Leonard is the initial visionary of the company. Jacques holds a great depth of knowledge of the industry; with his extensive networking system and diverse important contacts. He has been able to stay on top of the market and predict upcoming customer demands and needs. Jacques ability to adapt to changing market environments and organize large simultaneous operations, alongside his attitude, motivation and drive towards new projects have propelled him to be a leader in the industry. Furthermore with his positive social attitude, strong relationships have been formed with diverse artists, suppliers and media centers. His past work experience, producing and promoting diverse large international events for the last 8 years, has enabled Jacques to gain a complete understanding of each market segment and understand the operational and marketing side of artist performances. His experiences with huge events, gives Jacques a competitive advantage in his market, especially when legal contracts and intensive negotiations are being executed.

JACQUES KARTIER FOUNDATION IS A NON-PROFIT CULTURAL ORGANIZATION, CREATED IN 2017. ITS MISSION IS TO PERMIT THE CULTURAL DIVERSITY TO GROW IN ART AND ENTERTAINMENT SECTORS. THE WORLD OF ART AND MUSIC COLLIDE WHEN THE JACQUES KARTIER FOUNDATION BRING INNOVATIVE EXPERIENTIAL PLATFORMS.

OUR GOAL IS TO CONNECT THE ARTISTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD TO MONTREAL ARTISTS, SO THE HOPELESS AND THE SEEK DREAMERS CAN HAVE A REAL HOPE.

THE TRUTH IS THAT WE’RE LOCKING AWAY SO MUCH GREAT TALENTS BECAUSE OF POLITICS AND LANGUAGE BARRIERS. MONTREAL IS THE CITY OF DIVERSITY AND A MELTING POT OF CULTURE.

INTERNSHIP

JKA holds 5 internship terms per year for classes of 5-6 students per term. We are no longer taking applications for the Spring/Summer 2018 Internship Class. Only one email application is necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • MARKETING: Our interns work on a little bit of everything, with opportunities to learn the Branding and Strategy, Digital Marketing, Digital Content, and Guerilla Marketing. We only accept interns with social impact from every angle. This role is for the active learners who are hungry for new experiences and are ready to bring their own ideas to life.

  • PRODUCTION: We are looking for interns with a deep passion for events, who keep their ears open at all times, and who are keenly interested in learning the business side of event production. They will learn the business side of content & services, logistic & hospitality from a perspective rarely available elsewhere, and have the opportunity to contribute directly to the team.

  • CREATION & INNOVATION: We are looking for people who see the world differently to join our team and learn by doing innovative ideas for our project and partners across the entertainment and technology world. Sometimes you will have a brief, other times blank canvas.

REQUIREMENTS

Curious problem solvers, thrill-seeking daredevils, happy campers, Hopeless dreamers, entrepreneurial spirits, midnight oil burners.

  • Independent thinker, Proactive
  • Ability to solve creative, organizational, or communications problems proactively
  • Passion for Music, Branding, and/or Entertainment space
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office & Google Apps
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ready to be part of a fast paced team
  • Montreal based
  • Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research is a plus
  • Open to new types of learning experiences

*BONUS*

  • Strong understanding of design and creative principles (Required for Design Focus Only)
  • Expertise in the digital space, ranging from social media to the ability to update web properties via CMS
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Required for Design Focus Only)
  • Knowledge of video editing software (Final Cut, After Effects, etc.)
